3 US-Based Hotel Brands Expanding

There are new hotel openings across the world, with hotel brands always looking for new markets to stake their claim in. Three US hotel brands are opening new properties, resulting in a new 5 star hotel in Saigon, among others.

First Hyatt in Vietnam

Hyatt Hotels has recently announced that one of their affiliates has entered a management agreement with one of Ben Thanh Holdings’ affiliates for the development of a new, 5 star hotel in Saigon, the first Hyatt Place hotel in the country. The property, to be dubbed the Hyatt Place Saigon PhuNhuan, will be located at the PhuNhuan district, considered by many as the city’s geographical centre. The new  property will sport 200 guest rooms, a cafe, bar, lobby lounge, and other amenities. The company that’ll be in charge of managing this property, Ben Thanh Holdings, is a well-renowned organization with more than 30 subsidiaries and affiliates in different industries. Hyatt Place has 325 properties across the world in key markets like Australia, China, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, and the UK, among others.

W Hotels opening 2nd Indonesian hotel

W Hotels Worldwide, a part of Marriott International, announced the signing of the brand’s newest W Escape, W Bali-Ubudi in Indonesia. The property will be developed as part of a partnership with Indonesia’s RuangTeknik Group, and will offer 100 guestrooms, including 10 villas, each with their own private swimming pools, as well as an “EWOW” suite, the brand’s own iteration of a traditional presidential suite. Currently, W Hotels has more than 50 properties across the world, including the recently opened W Dubai-The Palm, which opened in February 2019.

IHG signs deal for expansion in Africa

Inter Continental Hotels Group and Valor Hospitality Partners Africa have recently signed a master development agreement for the development of multiple franchised hotels over the next decade. The agreement will expand the IHG’s presence in the Sub-Saharan region of Africa, including Botswana, South Africa, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Zambia, Mauritius, and Kenya. Valor Hospitality Partners Africa is a Valor Hospitality Partners Global subsidiary, known for handling projects across world. Currently, the two groups have management deals in the US and the UK. IHG Managing Director for Africa, India, and the Middle East, Pascal Gauvin, says that the deal will add about 1,000 rooms to their portfolio in Africa, primarily in the mid scale market, as part of their plans for growth in the region.
