From Quickbooks Desktop Version To Quickbooks Online

Businesses have nothing to fear because QuickBooks Desktop version is not going away any time soon. However, Quickbooks desktop migration may eventually be required because the trend now is a cloud-based business model. Migration of data to the cloud and the rapid growth of mobile technology are changing the way that businesses operate.

Intuit is a Silicon Valley company that introduced the TurboTax software for filing income tax returns and QuickBooks Online for small business bookkeeping. The first product of Intuit was Quicken that focused on the idea of virtual checkbook. The financial product made the personal computer indispensable for people who want to manage the tasks of paying bills and tracking personal finances.

Eventually, Intuit decided to shed its PC roots to become a cloud software company. QuickBooks and Quicken made cash flow, income and expenses and balance sheets accessible to everyone. However, the PC versions of the software became quite complicated so that Intuit came up with online version as an afterthought.

Intuit is being challenged by newcomer Zero, a New Zealand-based company that offers flexible online accounting system that can be used on a smartphone. Small businesses and accountants who have never used the software before are happy with Zero because it is easy to use.

Intuit essentially ruled the market for small business accounting software in the US and Canada but the current trend is migration of data to the cloud. The rapid growth and popularity of mobile devices has also changed the way that businesses operate.

Intuit rebuilt QuickBooks Online as an open platform because the company found out that an average business owner usually uses between 16 and 20 apps that have to be accommodated to an outside service. At present, QuickBooks Online can connect with 2,000 apps and the open structure has improved customer retention.

However, Quickbooksdesktop migration to the cloud is not easy. The transition has to be undertaken by a specialist in conversions. There are items that have to be converted and staged properly so that the migration from desktop to cloud can be considered a success. By entrusting the task to experts, the business owner can focus on tasks that he is familiar with.
